Daiichi hooks are made from high carbon steel for extra durability and a sharp edge right out of the box! It's always a good idea to sharpen your hooks before making the first cast and to re-sharpen them periodically during fishing. But if in the heat of fishing you forget, don' worry. The Daiichi style hook is renowned for holding it's edge even when you forget to use your sharpener!

The Daiichi 2546 hook has a slightly shank shorter than a Mustad 34007 but is other wise very similar and therefore an excellent substitute. This makes it a great hook for patterns such as minnows, small epoxies, Clousers and certain types of streamers that call for using a shorter shank hook.
